Edison Band Parent Organization

Budget

The Edison Band Parents Organization is a non-profit organization whose purposes are to urge and provide support for a strong Edison High School music program, stimulate community interest in the Edison Band program, and to provide assistance in raising funds through the planning and execution oversight of fundraising events. The yearly operating cost of the Edison Band Program far exceeds the funds that are provided through the Fairfax County Public School System. As such, in order to meet these additional costs, and more importantly provide our Edison Band Program students with the best musical educational experience possible, the Edison Band Parent Organization (EBPO) was formed.

The budget for the EBPO is separated into two major categories; General Funds and Student Participation Costs. The purpose of this division is to ensure that expenses paid to benefit the entire band program are shared by all and that expenses paid on behalf of each unit are shared by only those students in that unit.
The combined budget for the 2007-2008 is as follows:

Student Obligations

Student participation in fundraising events provided by the EBPO can pay for all of the expenses involved with being a member of the band program. Students that do not participate in fundraising and have not met their financial obligations listed below will have to pay the costs of those obligations each year.

Program Fees

The EBPO collects Program Fees from each student in the band program as follows:

Marching Band Student           -       $150.00

Symphonic/Concert Student       -       $100.00

Indoor Guard/Drumline Student   -       $100.00

The maximum Program Fee per student is $200.00 per year (a student in Marching Band and Symphonic Winds is obligated to $150 and $50). Siblings in the program receive a 12.5% discount each on Program Fees. The Marching Band fee is collected in August while the other Program Fees can easily be covered by participating in fundraising. All Program Fees may be taken out of the students account with the EBPO if there are adequate funds.

Participation Costs

Each student will share the costs of the unit(s) they are participating in. The anticipated costs for the 2007-2008 school year are as follows:

Marching Band           -       $440.00 per student

Indoor Guard            -       $230.00 per student

Indoor Drumline         -       $720.00 per student
There are no anticipated participation costs for Symphonic/Concert students.
